Suggestions for Sustainble Practises in Bribane

Reduced Water Use - Brisbane uses 98% native and endemic plants and drought-resistant turf which has reduced water and maintenance needs and they have Urban water design which improves the quality of storm water runoff before discharging it into the Brisbane River.

Sustainable Tourism - Brisbane has supported a project 'Brisbane Ambassadors for Life: Sustainable tourism development' which is proposed by the local hospitality organisations. It's an innovative program designed to create sustainable economic value by attracting overseas students, leisure, and convention visitors to the greater Brisbane region. Some of them will become ambassadors for Brisbane in other countries, with Brisbane's sister city relationships to generate increased visitation and length of stay in Brisbane (TA 2010).

Brisbane airport corporation (BAC) is committed to manage, operate and develop Brisbane Airport in a sustainable manner while growing every aspect of the commercial business. BAC's environmental efforts have been recognised on a global scale with Brisbane Airport receiving a Bronze benchmarked status in the EarthCheck program. We are the first Australian airport to achieve this status and it is a means by which we can assess and continually improve our environmental performance.

Furthermore, in June Brisbane airport corporation was announced as the winner of the Business Eco-efficiency category at the 2014 Premier's Sustainability Awards. This award was given to BAC for outstanding performance in improving operational efficiency by applying environmentally beneficial processes, systems and practices.
